When the Vancouver Canucks introduced their new jerseys this season, my first reaction was that it was ugly and had too much happening. I looked at it and thought the designer must not have been able to decide what to include and just threw everything into the mixing bowl to produce this thing. It had the orca logo, the vintage hockey stick logo, and it had “Vancouver” plastered right across the top (which I thought was hideous). However, after having a few months to digest the new jersey and having seen the players wear them on the ice, I’ve grown fond of it (yes, even the “Vancouver” part). Now the time has come to retire my old jersey and buy a new one. I’ve been thinking about which one I want, either home or away, and I’ve decided that I like the away jersey better. Which brought to mind another question: what about all the other jerseys in the league? If not Vancouver, which other jersey could I see myself getting? So I present to you now my thoughts of all the new 2007/08 NHL RBK EDGE jerseys, starting with the home team (with the rest following in alphabetically order, by city name).

I’ve been using it for quite a while but I just must say something about Google Reader [GR]. As part of their plan for world dominance, Google’s GR checks sites for new content and convenient lists them all in one area for you to read. If you have an account with Google, you can set up GR and then subscribe to various websites’ RSS feeds and have them all appear in GR. It’s so convenient because now I don’t have to go visiting all the sites for new content. I also don’t have instances where I read things twice because if I’ve read it on GR, I mark it “Read” and it knows. More and more sites are having RSS feeds and whenever I visit a site I like and it has RSS capabilities, I just subscribe and I can have it on GR. It’s like a newspaper; every morning, the first thing I check is GR for new stuff and it’s all neatly compiled there for me, waiting to be read. I don’t even have to be at my home computer; as long as I can log into my Google account, I can check GR. And if I don’t have time to read it, I can mark multiple posts “As Read” and it disappears from the list. If there’s a particular article I like, I can “Star” it and save it for future reference. It’s really quite a gem, GR is. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I believe there have been several new items since I last checked GR.

I’m surprised I haven’t written about this earlier but the next computer I plan on purchasing is a Mac. A MacBook Pro, specifically. My last desktop, a Dell, was purchased back in December 2005. Two computer years is translated into like 10 human years (roughly). My desktop computer is still a fine functioning piece of hardware but it’s time to upgrade. Why a Mac, though? I’m a huge fan of Heroes. I absolutely loved the Season 1 and waited patiently for the Season 2 to air. Having just finished watching “Powerless”, which served as the end of Volume 2 (and perhaps the end of Season 2, in large part due to the writer’s strike), I’ve been able to come up with a few comments of the season thus far. Overall, I found Season 1 much stronger and much tighter than Season 2. Perhaps it was the constant revelation of everyone’s secret powers, perhaps it was the great storyline, perhaps it was because everything tied together so well. I’m not getting any of that this season. And with the exception of Kristen Bell’s character, Elle, is anyone else underwhelmed by the new batch of heroes? I also think there are too many characters this season, which led to the dilution of the plot and too many side stories going on. I still enjoy the show, but I think it could just be so much better this season. What do I think of each character? Well, if you don’t mind the spoilers…
