My MacBook Pro arrived today. I was so excited. I had been checking the FedEx tracking website every day and it said that it would be delivered today. The FedEx man arrived at my front door at 10am this morning with my shiny new MacBook Pro and I was just so elated. What follows is my live blog of this morning when I received and unboxed my brand new MacBook Pro.
11:00 |
FedEx dropped off my new MacBook Pro almost an hour ago but I’m just getting around to unboxing it now. So excited! |
11:02 |
Had to take some pictures of it pre-unboxing. The box itself is just so sexy I want to lick it. I think I will have the same feeling when I touch my MBP for the first time. |
11:04 |
Oops, must peel off the UPC from the box first for my free printer rebate. |
11:37 |
got carried away with the picture taking and the reading of the manual. |
11:38 |
The first thing I said when I opened the MBP lid and saw the glossy screen was, “Wow”. Absolutely breath-taking. |
11:38 |
Okay, everything is unboxed and my MBP sits on my desk, awaiting for the initial boot-up. I need to switch around some power plugs so I can plug in the MBP AC adapter. |
11:40 |
Okay, time to hit the power button. I’m about to burst my Mac virgin cherry! |
11:42 |
I DO want to lick it! |
11:43 |
Ooh, slick intro video. |
11:45 |
It’s automatically detected several wireless networks. Let’s pick my network. |
11:48 |
The set up process is incredible simple. |
11:48 |
It’s a little ironic I have to use my PC to do this live blog of my MBP launch. |
11:49 |
It’s asking for .Mac information. I don’t have an account but a quick jump to the Apple website and I can sign up for a free 60-day trial. I’ll do that later so let’s skip the .Mac. part for now. |
11:50 |
Huh, well what do you know? I just bypassed that .Mac part and the next screen says I can sign up for a free 60-day trial. I didn’t even need to go to the Apple website. Nice touch. |
11:51 |
That’s it? I can start using my MacBook Pro now. Sweet. |
11:51 |
Simple is as simple does. |
11:52 |
Okay, let’s port this live blog so I can do it from my Mac.My Mac.I’m so happy right now. |
11:57 |
Ooh, bummer. COVERITLIVE.COM doesn’t work with Safari. Looks like I’ll need to install Firefox first before I can live blog with my Mac. |
11:57 |
But first, let’s update the software, since my Mac has indicated there are new updates available. |
11:58 |
And the time it took me to write this, the updates are downloaded and installed. |
11:59 |
Wow, I don’t even know where to begin. |
12:02 |
I know, let’s pair my wireless Mighty Mouse (which I also bought). |
12:06 |
Installing Firefox was extremely easy. A little hiccup, but that’s because I was expecting more steps then simply dragging and dropping. Now I can live blog with my MBP! |
12:10 |
Alright, Mighty Mouse is now paired. |
12:20 |
Let’s see if I can “talk” to my PC over my home network. |
12:50 |
Hmm.. still can’t connect the two computers together. |
12:50 |
However, it is past lunch time and I’m a little hungry. I’m going to continue playing with my new shiny toy but for now, this live blog is over! |
So that was my morning/afternoon. I’m still playing with my new toy and I am loving every minute of it. I think I will forgo the whole sleeping ritual tonight. Come on, look how sexy it is!
